The school board is a group of elected people with the purpose of ensuring the effective management and governance of the school in accordance with the Education Act.

The school board is responsible for the school’s strategic direction, setting goals, and making decisions about the school’s operations, while also ensuring that the educational needs of the students are met.

Some specific responsibilities of a school board include:

1. Maintaining a school environment that supports students learning and well-being,
2. Ensuring effective policies and practices are in place for curriculum delivery, assessment, and reporting of student progress,
3. Providing and maintaining school property, ensuring it meets health and safety regulations,
4. Ensuring financial accountability by preparing and monitoring the school budget,
5. Consulting with the community, including parents and caregivers, iwi, and other stakeholders, on matters that affect the school, and,
6. Upholding the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
